KIM condemns attacks on Kuki villages

The Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) has strongly condemned unabated attacks on Kuki villages by Meitei groups despite the peace initiative of the Centre.
According to a statement of KIM, many Kuki villages suffered intensified attacks in the past few days.
At least 13 Kuki villages in and around Saikul area have been torched since June 12 while there has been indiscriminate firing from Meitei side at Kangvai, Churachandpur in the night of June 13 and 15 .
In addition to this, the residential quarters of minister Nemcha Kipgen was set ablaze on June 14 evening., the KIM said.
Naming Kuki villages torched since June 12, the KIM said Khopibung village was attacked on June 12 and Khamenlok, Chullouphai, Phainom A Leikot and Aigejang on June 13.It also said that Thombol, Zoldangphai, Songjang and Govajang villages were attacked on June 14.On the same day (June 14), three villages namely Thangza, Phailengjang and Saijang in Island Block of Kangpokpi district were also attacked and torched, the KIM added.
All these fresh attacks on Kuki villages are the outcome of the open war declaration by COCOMI, which also dissuaded Meitei public from surrendering arms looted from state armouries, if the unlawful activities of COCOMI are not checked, more Kuki villages in the periphery would come under attack one after another or at one go, the KIM said and urged the Government of India to save Kuki people from continuous onslaught.
