Sit-ins denounce Centre s silence

As violence continues in the state, Meira Paibi organisations and local clubs of different localities organised sit-in protests in different parts of the state on Thursday denouncing the silence of the Central government over the crisis situation and demanding justice.
Takyel Khongbal Progressive Youth Association (TPYA) in association with Takyel Khongbal Chaokhat Thourang Nupi Lup (TKCTNL) organised sit-in protest at Naoremthong Khumanthem Leikai on Thursday while raising demands for NRC, termination of Suspension of Operation (SoO) agreement with Kuki militants and protection of identity and territorial integrity of Manipur.
Interacting with the media, TKCTNL secretary Ngangom Manjuri demanded an explanation from the Central government for not initiating action against the Kuki militants despite having enough evidence of violating SoO ground rules.
Despite the continuing violence, the Centre is remaining silent, she decried while expressing suspicion of a hidden agenda behind the crisis.
She also decried the failure of the Central government and central security forces to open the NH 2, which is being blocked in Kangpokpi.
The protestors also observed a two-minute silence in honour of those who lost their lives in the fight to protect the state's integrity.
Meira Paibi groups, clubs and CSOs in Matai area under Heingang assembly constituency also organised a sit-in protest at Ibudhou Ashei Ningthou Shanglen.
Protestors decried the incapability of the MLAs and ministers over the situation.
They also observed two-minute silence for the loss of lives in clashes.
Mayang Imphal Khuman Youth Association along with local clubs and Meira Paibi groups of the area, and Bashikhong Kongba Irong Development Committee in association with local Meira Paibi lup organfsed protests in their respective areas and offered tributes to those, who lost their lives in the crisis.
In Kakching district, Young Defence Club (YDC), Hiyanglam Wabagai Terapishak; Absolute Benefaction Club, Wabagai Terapishak and Apunba Meira Paibi Lup, Terapishak jointly organised sit-in protest at Ayangleima Panthoibi Laimang community hall against narco-terrorism.
During the protest participated by students, meira paibi activists and others slogans were raised placards put on display to demand uprooting of narco-terrorism, stopping militarisation of Manipur, alleged partisan by central forces, removal of RAF & AR, ousting of Kuki militants, NRC implementation, protection of Manipur's integrity, no ethnic based administration, etc.
The protest was also attended by Federation of Haomee president Sapamcha Jadumani and core committee member Saimat Maring.
Meanwhile, a sit-in protest was held at Sangaiyumfam Salamacha and Sangaiyumfam Pulleipokoi on Thursday demanding state and central governments to resolve the crisis at the earliest.
