Many pay respect to victims of present violence

Federation of Civil Society Organisation (FOCS), Manipur has extended its highest respect to the people who have been killed by armed Kuki militants since the violence began on May 3 in Manipur.
In a release, FOCS shared the grief of the bereaved families and prayed that may the souls of these brave heroes who laid down their lives for the motherland rest in peace in the heavenly abode.
Expressing disappointment over the failure of the Government of India to end the violence even after the 40 days, FOCS asserted that the Central Government has done nothing to deter the Kuki militants under SoO from attacking innocent civilians and burning down villages belonging to the Meitei community.
The federation also questioned the lack of effort by the Indian Army to clear the blockade in National Highways and make way for free passage of vehicles carrying essential commodities.
FOCS further urged the Government of India to control the Kuki militants under SoO and protect the lives of innocent civilians.
Moreover, Mayang Imphal Khuman Youth Association (MIKYA), Apunba Clubs and Meira Paibis today jointly conducted a ceremony to pay tribute to the martyrs who were killed by armed Kuki militants at Khamenlok.
During the event, Meira Paibis shouted varius slogans such as, "Safeguard Manipur's integrity", "Implement NRC in Manipur", "Cancel SoO with Kuki militant groups", etc.
Meanwhile, Bashikhong Kongba Irong Development Committee and Bashikhong Kongba Irong Apunba Meira Paibi also organised a demonstration to honour the victims of the ongoing violence on Wednesday night.
Women folk holding torches stood together and observed two minute silence to pray for the departed souls to rest in peace in the heavenly abode.
They also shouted slogans such as, "Long Live Manipur", "Safeguard Manipur's integrity", etc.
