Misleading media reports could escalate violence, says KSO

The Kuki Students' Organizations Sadar Hills has urged the media fraternity in the State and the country to restrain from publishing and telecasting false and misleading reports over Manipur's violence.
A team of Kuki Students' Organizations Sadar Hills visited a person who sustained gunshot wounds at a hospital in Kangpokpi today.
The injured Thangboi Haokip (28), s/o of Jamlet Haokip sustained bullet injuries in his upper left chest.
According to doctors, he is out of danger.
The injured person said that a huge number of people wearing black clothes attacked Aigejang village at around 5:00 pm on June 13 with sophisticated weapons, bombs, and grenades.
He continued that around 30 village volunteers were defending the village with licensed guns and little ammunition.
Thangboi said that he got hit by a bullet while fleeing from the area.
Saying that he was rescued by his colleagues to a safer place at Sijang Mongjang, and then to Saikul, and finally to Kangpokpi this morning, he claimed that Aigejang village was attacked the next day after H Khopibung village was burnt down.
KSO Sadar Hills general secretary, Thangtinlen Haokip claimed that Khamenlok area in Saikul Assembly Constituency was attacked from June 12 morning to June 14 morning by people with sophisticated weapons assisted by the State forces.
However, the State media reflected as if it was Kuki militants who attacked Meitei villagers, he claimed and urged the apex body of the media fraternity of the State, the Indian Journalist Union, and the Press Council of India to look into the matter.
