Conference on organic farming held

The Regional Centre for Natural & Organic Farming, Imphal in collaboration with Manipur Organic Farming Mission Agency (MOMA), Department of Horticulture & Soil Conservation organised a 1 -Day Regional Conference on Organic Farming at Hotel Imphal today.
The conference was graced by dignitaries, including Thaithuling Pamei, Commissioner cum Secretary, Horticulture & Soil Conservation, Manipur; Prof Ph Ranjit Sharma, Director of Extension, Central Agricultural University (CAU), Imphal; K Debadutta Sharma, Director, Horticulture & Soil Conservation, Manipur; Partha Mandal, General Manager, NABARD, Manipur; and Dr VY Deoghare, Regional In-charge, RCONF, Imphal as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, Thaithuling Pamei with more and more people becoming conscious about global warming and climate change, organic farming is gaining more popularity as a means to fight environmental degradation.
He asserted that farmers in North East India including Manipur can take many benefits from the organic sector to improve their socio-economic conditions.
Thaithuling Pamei also encouraged farmers to adopt organic farming for healthy living and to boost their income at the same time.
