Governor calls for boosting agricultural output

Imphal, March 25 2025: Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla on Tuesday inaugurated the State Krishi Mela, 2025 at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen, Place Compound, Imphal.

The exhibition is being organised by State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI), Manipur, and the Department of Agriculture.

During the event, Governor Ajay interacted with participants from various districts and departments, exploring the rich displays of local products, agricultural equipment, and various farm-related items.

He also inquired about the showcased products, techniques, and advancements to understand their applications and benefits.

Governor calls for boosting agricultural output

Speaking at the event, the Governor noted that agriculture is the backbone of the state, sustaining and driving economic growth of the people.

Regarding the State Krishi Mela, 2025, he said that the exhibition acts as a platform for sharing innovations, knowledge, and awareness on various government schemes available for the enhancement of the agriculture sector.

Ajay Kumar Bhalla also stated that over the years, significant progress has been made in the field of agriculture, with advancements in farming techniques, sustainability, and mechanisation.

He, nevertheless, called for more efforts are needed to enhance productivity and efficiency, while adding that the Central Agricultural University (CAU), has a pivotal role in advancing agricultural research and development.

"The government remains committed to providing essential support in the form of seeds, guidance, subsidies, and financial assistance to farmers," he assured.

Later, the Governor distributed various benefits to beneficiaries under different government schemes.

CAU, Imphal vice chancellor Dr Anupam Mishra and principal secretary (Agriculture) Arun Kumar Sinha also attended the inaugural function.
