Imphal, March 27 2025: More than 16 months after they went missing on November 5, 2023, the Mangani Leihun ceremony of Maibam Avinash and Ningthoujam Anthony was solemnized at Akham Awang Leikai today.

Speaking in this connection, Chongtham Basanta, senior member, JAC Against the Missing of Maibam Avinash and Ningthoujam Anthony, said that the JAC waited for more than a year with the hope that the Government will take tangible steps to trace the missing boys.

However, in view of the Government's failure, the last rites and Mangani Leihun ceremony were solemnized, said Basanta.

He expressed hope for peace to return in Manipur after all the traditional rites are performed.

The Mangani Leihun ceremony was attended by representatives of CSOs, Arambai Tenggol members, meira paibis, friends and well-wishers.
