Governor chairs JNMDA Advisory Committee meeting

A meeting of the Advisory Committee of Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy (JNMDA) was held at the Conference Hall of Raj Bhavan, here, on Thursday.
In a release, PRO Raj Bhavan informed that Governor Anusuiya Uikey chaired the annual meeting during which number of agendas were discussed and recommended for further steps.
Members of the Advisory Committee including director P Bilash Singh and Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi secretary Raju Das attended the meeting, which also condoled the demise of three gurus and former administrative officer of the Academy by observing one minute's silence as a mark of respect to the departed souls.
The release further said that the meeting discussed and elected JNMDA former director L Joychandra Singh as the vice chairman of the Academy, approved formation of the Academic and Production Unit Sub-Committee of JNMDA and discussed proposal put up for the construction of a three-storey multipurpose building of the Academy.
The Governor, while giving her remarks over the discussions, said JNMDA has been taking a lead role in nurturing the rich culture of Manipur.
She said JNMDA should showcase these rich heritages to other parts of the country and abroad despite confining to the calendar of events chartered to year-to-year basis to showcase the rich cultural legacy to the rest of the world.
The Governor also asked the Academy to conduct cultural programmes in relief camps so that it would help reduce the level of anxiety and stress of the people residing in the camps, the release said.
