Akhoka Theatre's 'Aboriginal Cry' premiered

Imphal, January 12 2024:
Akhoka Theatre premiered its play 'Aboriginal Gry' (Yellhoumee Gi Kholao) at JN Manipur Dance Academy on Friday.
The play directed by Victor Thoudam is about a phenomenon where the Aboriginal or the indigenous people become the target for acquiring land, rivers, forests, hills, and other resources by a giant, powerful corporation.
It tries to explore the phenomenon through sound and the body of the indigene, for the indigenous people's body becomes a sacred entity of relations between land, rituals, and cultures.
Also, the play highlights the adverse impact of construction of mega dams in Manipur through poetic body.
Mention may be made that Victor Thoudam is an alumni of National School of Drama, New Delhi, Charles Wallace India Trust Scholar 2014-15 and pursued Advance Theatre Practice' at the London International School of Performing Arts (now Arthaus Berlin) .
His plays were staged at many national and international festivals and awarded the best actor and best choreography in the 18th edition of the META Theatre festival, 2023, India, for his performance in the production 'The Departed Dawn' .
