Lilong AC denizens demand basic amenities

A meeting of residents of Lilong Atoukhong Mamang Leikai under Lilong assembly constituency on Friday resolved to demand repairing of road from the said locality till Laiphrakpam.
Speaking to media persons, Youth & Social Development Organisation advisor Md Abdul Nashir rued lack of developmental initiatives for Atoukhong Mamang Leikai.
He pointed out that mal functioning of the dam gate has caused various problems to farmers while non-repairing of Atoukhong Mamang Leikai riverside road till Laiphrakpam for a protracted period renders the road unpassable during the monsoons.
Urging the local MLA and authority concerned to address inconveniences of the local populace, Nasir cautioned that if their grievances are not addressed then they will launch agitations with support of the public.
Meanwhile, a sit-in protest was organised by clubs and meira paibi groups of Oinam Laiphrakpam under Lilong AC at the local community hall on Friday to protest deprivation of development, especially deplorable condition of roads.
Speaking to media persons, one Khoisnam Bemma decried that the area is dominated by pitiful road connectivity and deprivation of potable water for over two years.
She also stated that roads under Oinam Sawombung Gram Panchayat is in the worst possible condition.
Bemma further alleged that the local MLA and the state government are ignoring suffering of the people despite repeated complaints registered.
Mentioning that both Oinam Sawombung Water Supply Scheme and Laiphrakpam Maning Leikai Water Supply Scheme have not been functioning or its construction not completed despite commencement of project work in 2020, she demanded that the government local MLA and department concerned ensure completion of the project without further delay.
