Marangching landslide anniversary observed

The first anniversary of the Makhuam (Marangching) Railway Sub-Station landslide tragedy in Noney district on June 29 midnight last year was held at the incident site on Friday.
The observance organised by Makhuam Thoubei, Makhuam village authority and Makhuam Youth Club was attended by families of the victims and village leaders.
A prayer led by Makhuam -5 Baptist Church pastor Gaithoilung Kamei was held in memory of the departed souls.
Altogether 58 people including army personnel, railway officials, construction workers and villagers were killed while 18 people suffered injuries and three persons still remain unaccounted for.
Makhuam Village Thoupei secretary Gongchalung Gangmei while demanding the government to release the pending compensation amount to the affected families cautioned of banning the construction work in case the dues are not cleared at the earliest possible.
The function was attended Makhuam village authority chairman Lanranglung Gondaimei, 'khullakpa' Namronglung Gondaimei, Makhuam village chairman Lankhuilung Kamei, and secretary Gopgchalung Gangmei among others.
