SAT holds workshop on RTI Act

Thoubal, March 24 2025: State Academy of Training, Manipur in coordination with Department of Personnel & Training, Government of India organised a one-day workshop on "Improving Transparency and Accountability in Government through Effective Implementation of Right to Information Act" at the conference hall of Thoubal DC Office on Monday.

Chairing the meeting, Thoubal ADM B Lokeshor Sharma expressed elation over the State Academy of Training organising various workshops on "Right to Information Act" for the benefit of the citizens.

He said that such workshop will help enhance departmental awareness on various information related to RTI.

DMU Department of Law faculty N Braja-kanta Singh, who attended the workshop as a resource person, outlined what information is and how the public can obtain information from the authorities.

Citizens have the right to access information, although authorities have certain limitations and exemptions regarding its disclosure, he said, explaining that information that could endanger national security cannot be disclosed.

More than 30 officials from various offices in the district including the Home Department participated in the workshop.
