Workshop on vocational training underway

Imphal, March 20 2025:
'World of Works', a two-day workshop on vocational training organised under Prime Minister s Schools for Rising India (PM-SHRI) began on Thursday at Malom Megha High School, Malom Keithel, Imphal West.
Speaking on the occasion, school headmistress Ch Da-mayenti informed that the workshop was organised with an objective to promote vocational training to develop skills for students.
She stressed the need for the youth to focus on entrepreneurship instead of just waiting for government jobs.
She also highlighted the objectives of PM-SHRI, which focus on job oriented skill development programmes apart from formal classroom education, and assured that the school will make its best efforts to achieve the objectives of the scheme.
PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industries deputy secretary Ravi Shankar Kumar said that the workshop, organised under the aegis of ministry of education, is 31st such workshop organised across the country.
Six more workshops are being planned in different states within the current month, he added.
The deputy secretary further informed that the workshop priorities 36 sectors related with skill development which can help students gain job oriented skills in these sectors while pursuing their formal education.
NCERT resource person Amandeep, Samagra Shiksha (secondary) Manipur additional state project director Khumukcham Renuka, PM-SHRI school coordinator Lucy Thokchom and Zone-II Wangoi ZEO K Bimolchand also attended the workshop, which will conclude on Friday.
