Imphal, July 18 2024:
A two-day job fair to facilitate educated unemployed youth of Manipur, organised by National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT), Imphal commenced at its Akampat campus on Thursday.
Speaking at the inauguration programme of the fair being held under the theme "Empowering the Youth and Preparing Future Professionals", director N Debachandra announced that NIELIT, Imphal plans to organise two job fairs annually with the stated objective to develop students' skills and provide them with advanced knowledge and expertise in the industry.
Further stating that over 600 students are being trained each year in the state by various institutions other than universities, he informed that since 2023, NIELIT has been organising job fairs to address the challenge of unemployment among educated youth and avoid unwanted social issues.
The director also mentioned that a total of 24 job providers are participating in the fair, offering over 300 vacant positions.
N Debachandra emphasised that it is the right time to focus on electronics as semiconductor hub pegged at Rs 5 crore is being planned in Guwahati, which will require a significant number of manpower.
There are concerns that job seekers from outside the northeast region may take advantage of such a huge opportunity at the cost of job seekers from the northeast, he opined.
The function was also attended by state's IT director Nambam Deben and Glo-bizs Web Solutions Private Limited managing director Roshnikumar Yambem.
