Imphal, July 03 2025:
Thadou Inpi Manipur (TIM) condemned the killings that took place on June 30 at K Mongjang village, Churachandpur district.
A release issued by TIM stated that the victims included Kuki National Army (KNA)/KNO deputy commander-in-chief Thenkhothang Haokip (alias Thahpi), two KNA cadres Seikhogin and Lengouhao; and an innocent woman named Phallhing of Koite village, Churachandpur district.
"TIM finds such acts of enmity between armed factions deeply distressing and a direct assault on the delicate peace currently in Manipur.
The egregious loss of an innocent civilian life in this incident represents an appalling violation of fundamental human rights and dignity.
Violence of this nature is utterly appalling and indefensible," the release denounced.
While extending heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, TIM also expressed grave concern over the potential for escalating violence and retaliatory actions.
It appealed to all armed groups, including KNO/KNA and UKNA, to exercise maximum restraint and further implored them to resolve their differences through peaceful dialogue, mutual understanding, and respect, always prioritising the welfare and safety of innocent civilians who disproportionately bear the brunt of such conflicts.
"This tragic event serves as a stark and painful reminder of the destructive power of violent extremism and unchecked gun culture, highlighting the inherent dangers posed by the continued presence of armed militant groups in the community, regardless of their status (SoO or non-SoO)".
TIM strongly urged both central and state governments to take immediate, decisive steps to prevent further escalations, restore security in the affected area, and diligently protect the lives of innocent civilians.
"It is imperative that both the governments demonstrate strong political will and take firm action to eradicate violent militancy in Manipur, serving best interests of both the state and the nation.
The people of Manipur can no longer endure a life dictated by fear, gun culture, and violence that only breeds destruction, hopelessness, and a bleak future," the release maintained, adding that consistent with their long-held principled stance, Thadou Inpi Manipur remains steadfastly committed to peace, justice, and the unwavering protection of the lives and dignity of all people.
The release further called upon all responsible parties to ensure that such deplorable killings are never repeated and that stringent measures are implemented to uphold peace and prevent any further violence.
