Defence PRO chronicles search Ops, arms recovery

PRO Defence highlighted success of the Indian Army, in collaboration with the Assam Rifles under the Spear Corps, in conducting multiple security operations across the districts of Churachandpur, Imphal West, Kangpokpi, Imphal East, and Bishnupur from March 29 to April 3, 2025 .

In a release received here on Thursday, the PRO informed that security forces recovered a cache of 24 weapons, including improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), grenades, ammunition, and other warlike materials in operations carried out in close coordination with Manipur Police, CRPF, BSF, and ITBP.
In Bishnupur district's Thangjing Hill, a joint operation between the Indian Army and Manipur Police on March 30, led to the recovery of six weapons, including two bolt-action rifles, one pistol, and three pumpis, along with ammunition and warlike stores, said the PRO, adding that on March 31, a joint operation was launched by the Indian Army, Assam Rifles, CRPF, and Manipur Police in Kaprang, Churachandpur district, resulting in the recovery of two IEDs weighing 2.3 kg, along with ammunition and additional warlike stores.
Further intelligence received on April 1, indicated the presence of arms and ammunition in Sajirok, Imphal West district.
In response, a swift operation by the Assam Rifles and Manipur Police led to the recovery of five weapons, including one 7.62 mm Self-Loading Rifle (SLR), one single bore barrel rifle (SBBL), and three pistols.
Similarly, on Thursday (April 3), an operation conducted by the Assam Rifles and Manipur Police in S Mongpi Ridge, Kangpokpi district, resulted in the seizure of five weapons, including a .303 rifle, one 7.62 mm SLR, one SBBL, and two pistols, along with ammunition and other warlike materials.
In a separate operation in Twichin, Imphal East district, the Indian Army recovered eight weapons, comprising one 12-bore single-barrel rifle and seven improvised mortars.
All recovered arms and ammunition have been handed over to the Manipur Police for further investigation and dispersal, the release added.
