Imphal, September 20 2025:
The Tangkhul Aze Katamnao Long (TAKL) has urged the Kuki National Army (KNA) to issue a formal apology with a detailed explanation within 72 hours for the assault on Kingson Kashung, a Tangkhul Naga auto driver, at Kanglatongbi on September 17 .
Taking strong exception to the assault, TAKL, in a statement signed by its president Yarchuiso Kashung and general secretary Themyao Raikhan, stated that no Tangkhul or any citizen within their jurisdiction should cooperate with the Kukis until justice is delivered.
The Tangkhul students' union stated that Kingson was attacked from behind by two individuals identifying themselves as members of KNA while he was providing auto services to two Liangmai women.
It demanded that the two 'KNA personnel/terrorists' involved in the incident must openly admit the crimes they committed.
Shops owned by the Tangkhul community in southern Tangkhul areas must be marked with a "Tangkhul sign" while those owned by Kukis must be marked with a "Kuki sign", TAKL said and added that any Tangkhuls who purchase from or supply goods to the Kuki community will be subjected to strict action.
The restriction will continue until an agreement is reached and accountability is fixed, it said and added they will respond appropriately if the KNA fails to comply.
TAKL said that Kingson is their member and as such the unprovoked and cowardly assault on him is strongly condemned.
