Bishnupur, April 20 2026:
The Tronglaobi Joint Action Committee, formed in connection with the death of two children in an attack on April 7, has denied calling the total shutdown in place since midnight of April 18 .
The JAC didn't impose the shutdown and is in no way connected to it, said its co-convenor Sinam Ajit Kumar today, speaking to reporters at the committee's office at Tronglaobi.
Until an agreement is reached with the State Government, the JAC will however continue its agitation it has been organising since the incident on April 7, he added.
The agitation of the JAC includes the imposition of economic blockade.

The bodies of the two children will also not be claimed until its demands are met, said the JAC .
Some individuals came to visit the victim family on April 18, and the JAC was called to join.
However, amid a mob, a press note announcing shutdown was released, and it gave the impression that the JAC was on it also.
But the fact is that the JAC is in no way connected to the shutdown, Ajit Kumar said.
Further, the JAC co-convenor said a public meeting was called yesterday to discuss the shutdown.
However, the individuals who had called the shutdown didn't show up for the meeting.
As a result, the JAC has decided to not meet them again, he added.
On the talks with the Government, Ajit said the JAC's demands have not been met yet by the Government.
The JAC made several demands to the Government and urged it to give assurances in writing.
The Government till today has not given its assurances in writing, he said.
Detailing the demands, Ajit Kumar said the JAC has been urging the Government to launch military crackdown on militants in the hills under video/photographic coverage, and complete it within 2 months.
Secondly, the JAC has been urging the Government to relocate and redeploy Central security forces in the hills and replace them with State forces in the valley within 2 months.
This demand includes deployment of State forces in the P Gelmol area within a week, he said.
The 3rd point demands deployment of Central security forces in Chingdamba Loukon Jal Jeevan Mission water supply scheme area or near it.
The fourth point demands adequate compensations and entitlements for next of kin of victims of the Tronglaobi incidents.
The fifth point demands the Government to produce and hand over to the JAC a copy of the order handing the Tronglaobi case to NIA .
The sixth point demands concrete and visible action on the aforementioned points of demands.
The seventh point mandates the JAC and the families to claim the bodies of the victims and withdraw all forms of agitation when all the demands are met, Ajit Kumar said.
Further, considering the victim family's demand to the Government to give in writing a time-frame for completing the NIA investigation, the JAC had also urged the same to the Government.
So far, the Government has not yet given its assurances in writing and hence there is no agreement, he added.
Until an agreement is reached, the JAC will continue its protest.
It must, however, be understood that the JAC is in no way connected to the ongoing shutdown, Ajit Kumar said.
