Imphal, April 17 2025:
MPCC senior spokesman Ningombam Bhupenda Meitei has denied any connection with the hearing on the alleged audio tape leak case held at the Supreme Court today.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club here this evening, Bhupenda said that a picture circulated on social media which has a photograph of him alleged that he is acting as a counsel of the alleged audio tape leak case's petitioner.
"As an Advocate, I'm not offering my service as counsel for either the petitioner or the respondent in the particular case", he said.
He said that he never signed on the wakalatnama of the case.

"Such unfounded allegation is illegal and reeks of a conspiracy to defame me" Bhupenda said.
There have been several instances of death and loss of properties due to circulation of such false propaganda and allegations, he said.
The MPCC senior spokesman expressed strong suspicion that BJP and its allies were behind the outrageous social media post.
"One may join Court hearings through video conferencing.
But it would be quite wrong to say that I am a counsel of either of the two parties just because I am present at the hearing of a particular case", he said.
"Highlighting the unfounded allegation circulated on social media, a representation was submitted to the Governor today to protect myself and properties", he added.
Copies of the same representation were also sent to the Chief Secretary and the DGP .
A similar representation would be submitted to the Prime Minister, the Union Home Minister and the Chief Justice of India tomorrow, Bhupenda said.
He said that the Governor, the Chief Secretary, the DGP and BJP must take responsibility if anything bad happens to him as a result of the unfounded allegation circulated on social media.
He then appealed to all concerned to delete the particular picture and the caption within 12 hours, and tender an apology.
If the particular picture is not removed from social media and those who uploaded it fail to come out with a clarification, legal proceedings would be initiated, Bhupenda warned.
