Thoubal, May 09 2026:
A massive public protest demonstration at Wabagai Lamkhai Keithel today condemned the recent terrorist attacks at Tronglaobi, Ukhrul and Kamjong, and demanded the Government to crack down on SoO Kuki militants.
The sit-in protest was organised by the All Manipur United Clubs Organisation (AMUCO) and its partner organisations, including the All Manipur Women's Voluntary Association (AMAWOVA), Committee on Human Rights (CoHR), Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF) and Poirei Leimarol.
During the protest demonstration, AMUCO president, Sanjoy Sorokhaibam, accused the Government of India of implementing "colonial and divisive policies in Manipur" .

To face and resolve the crises facing Manipur, people must unite.
There is a strong need for a mass movement to protect and safeguard Manipur, he said.
Hinting that the present State Government is a Government installed by the Centre, Sanjoy alleged the Government of India is implementing policies that seek to exploit the people and resources of the North East.
The "buffer zone" that has been created and maintained in Manipur needs to be tom down like the "Berlin Wall".
Only a strong public movement can bring about change, he added.
Denouncing the Government of India's SoO arrangement and its many policies, Sanjoy lamented that the Centre's leadership has deliberately ignored the suffering of the people in Manipur throughout the conflict.
The Prime Minister of the country cancelled his scheduled foreign visit at the time of the Odisha train accident.
But, the same Prime Minister has so far not said a word about the killings in Manipur and the thousands of people who have been displaced, Sanjoy said.
While Manipur has plunged into a deep economic turmoil due to the crises, the Government of India has not even sanctioned a special economic package for the State.
Yet, the State's MLAs and the administration are silent, he said.
The Government has promised to end insurgents and militants by 2029, but is so far not able to rein in Kuki terrorists, he said.
The people of Manipur must decide their own fate.
The people must unite to safeguard and protect the State, he added.
During the demonstration, the protesters, largely womenfolk, asserted that the Government of India must stop waging "proxy war" using SoO militants against indigenous population of Manipur.
The Government must identify the SoO militants as "terrorists" and stop "sponsoring" them as a "proxy force", they said.
The protesters condemned the terrorist attack that killed two children at Tronglaobi on April 7, the TM Kasom ambush on April 18 that killed two civilians and the recent attack on villagers in Kamjong district.
"The people of Manipur have no faith in Central security forces who have acted in a partisan manner in the Manipur conflict.
They must be sent back and replaced by State forces," said the protesters.
The protesters raised slogans urging Central security forces to go back, and the Government of India to abrogate the SoO agreement.
