Speaking as the chief guest, Fisheries director T Phulen confided out that with the mercury level rising in the state, steps would be taken up to establish cold storage for fish in each district.
He continued that fishermen need to work together with the departments concerned to increase production of fish in the state.
He then informed that the Fisheries Directorate would be organising mass awareness programmes to inform the fishermen of various schemes, which if implemented effectively, would help meet at least part of the 20,000 MT of fish required by the state.
The workshop was also attended by ICAR - Research Centre for NEH Region Manipur Chapter HoRC, Dr Ch Basudha Devi as president, NABARD general manager Partha Mandal and NFDB-North Eastern Regional Centre, Guwahati executive (Tech) Dorothy MS as guests of honour.
Later, selected fish farmers who are trained on fish rearing, were presented with awards, followed by distribution of fish feed to the attendees.
