Cyclothon promotes oral health, physical fitness

Imphal, March 20 2025:
Dental College, Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, in collaboration with the Indian Dental Association (IDA), Manipur State Branch, organised Cyclothon 2025, an initiative aimed at promoting oral health awareness and physical fitness among the public.
The event was flagged off by Prof N Sanjib Singh, medical superintendent RIMS Hospital, in the presence of RK Mecolt Singh, deputy director (admin) RIMS, Dr B Praveen Reddy, principal Dental College RIMS, and Dr RK Ratankumar Singh, representative of IDA, Manipur branch.
The cycle rally commenced from Jubilee Hall, RIMS, following a designated route through key landmarks such as RIMS Gate, Uripok, Over-bridge, Kangla Gate, DM College Gate, Nagamapal, and RIMS Road, before concluding at the Dental College.
The event saw participation from dental students, faculty members, healthcare professionals, and cycling enthusiasts.
The event aimed to raise awareness about the crucial link between physical fitness and dental well-being, emphasising preventive dental care for a healthier lifestyle.
Speaking at the event, Prof N Sanjib lauded the efforts of the organisers for integrating fitness and oral health awareness while Dr Praveen Reddy high-lighted the significance of such initiatives in promoting public health education and encouraging active participation in preventive dental care.
Dr RK Ratankumar Singh reaffirmed IDA's commitment to fostering community engagement and spreading awareness about oral health across the state.
