Governor, CM, MLA extend Mahavir Jayanti greetings

Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey, Chief Minister N Biren and MLA RK Imo on Saturday extended their greetings to the people of Manipur, especially the Jain community, on the sacred and auspicious occasion of Mahavir Jayanti, 2024 .
In her message, Governor Anusuiya Uikey stated that Lord Mahavira, an apostle of peace and non-violence, showed humanity the path to salvation through love, compassion mercy and abdication of material elements.
His teachings transcend all barriers and his everlasting message of peaceful co-existence rings true even now, she added.
While remembering and celebrating the birth of this apostle of peace, let us re-dedicate to follow the spiritual and ethical path propounded by him and follow his values of living in harmony and brotherhood, she exhorted.
Chief Minister, in his message, stated that Mahavir Jayanti marks the birth anniversary of Lord Mahavir, the 24th and the last Tirthankara of the Jain faith, who propounded that ahimsa is the supreme moral virtue.
He was an apostle of truth and righteousness and his teachings, emphasising on non-violence and leading a virtuous life, holds relevance today, especially as we seek peace and normalcy, he added.
MLA Rajkumar Imo Singh also extended his greetings on the auspicious occasion.
In his message, he called upon the people to imbibe the essence of 'live and let live' echoing the timeless wisdom of Mahavir's philosophy.
