Media sensitization on TB elimination organised

As part of the 100-Day Intensified Campaign for TB Elimination, aimed at eradicating tuberculosis from the country by 2025, a media sensitisation programme was held at the District TB Centre, Thoubal Wangmataba, on Thursday.
Speaking at the programme, National TB Elimination Programme (NTEP) district co-ordinator Thongam Stephee shared that the 100-Day Intensified Campaign is progressing successfully in Thoubal district with support of the media in the government's efforts to eliminate TB nationwide.
The coordinator also urged journalists to help raise awareness about the government's initiatives and schemes available to support TB patients, ensuring that the public benefits from them.
Stephee also mentioned that as part of the campaign, TB awareness programmes have been conducted in 21 locations across Thoubal district, in collaboration with various panchayat members.
Additionally, 37 TB patients have been provided nutrition through the Ni-Kshay Mitra initiative, and 73 patients adopted by the Zilla Parishad Administrative Committee chairperson and panchayat leaders.
District TB officer Dr Yumnam Shameen, who also attended the event, reported that 3000 people from the district have been tested for TB during the campaign, with 14 individuals testing positive.
Among others, Thoubal District Working Journalists' Union president Soibam Binoy also took part in the function.
