Grenades placed, sit-in decries bomb threat

Imphal, July 18 2024:
A hand grenade was found placed at the Chingmeirong Mamang.
Makha Leikai residence of PDA secretary Koijam Gyaneshor (65) on Thursday around 5 am.
According to police, based on report about a hand grenade laying at the courtyard of Gyaneshor's house, a team of Lamphel police station arrived and retrieved the same around 7:30 am.
On the other-hand, a sit-in protest was staged at the premises of Young Social Makers' Club (YSMC), Lairenjam Awang Leikai under Nambol police station on Thursday to denounce the act of placing hand grenade at the residence of Kamakhya Pemton College (KPC), Hiyangthang principal Dr W Nimai in the same locality by unknown persons around 5:30 pm on Wednesday.
During the protest organised jointly by YSMC, Nongchup Imphal Seva Club, Students' Cultural Organisation and Lairenjam Sabal Youth Club in association with Meira Paibi Apunba Lup, Lairenjam, the protestors held placards decrying extortion demand, bomb threat in residential area, in anti-social activities, causing fear among women, children, etc.
Speaking to media persons, Meira Paibi Apunba Lup secretary Samom Leima strongly condemned the bomb threat in residential area while advising all concerned to acknowledge public sentiment and aspiration in order to achieve their goal, if any.
She also maintained that the local population has been extending all possible assistance to those working for safeguard of Manipur and its people.
