Imphal, March 07 2025:
Rajya Sabha MP and titular king of Manipur Sanajaoba Leishemba has emphasised the need to instil sense of patriotism among younger generations while paying tributes to the martyrs of the Anglo-Manipuri War of 1891 .
He was speaking as the chief guest at the 7th foundation day of the Justice Committee on Anglo-Mani-puri War, 1891 Martyrs and Freedom Fighters of Kangleipak (Manipur), held at the JN Manipur Dance Academy auditorium on Friday.

Highlighting the courage and contributions of the forefathers, Sanajaoba stressed the importance of following their path and fostering patriotism among the youth.
He also underscored the need for research and documentation on the lives of the martyrs, assuring that he would take necessary steps in this regard during his remaining tenure of about a year in the Rajya Sabha.
He expressed hope that the event would inspire people to develop a deeper sense of patriotism.
Committee chairman Joy-chandra Konthoujam, who presided over the function, expressed hope that the current crisis in Manipur would soon be resolved and that a united and stronger Manipur would emerge.
He voiced concern over central rule in the state, stating that it had rendered elected public representatives spineless and meaningless.
Criticising the political situation, he condemned the power struggle among MLAs and suggested that they should resign from their posts.
The chairman also condemned opposition by certain organisations to the free movement policy initiated by union home minister Amit Shah and called for strict action against such elements.
He accused the Government of India of using illegal immigrants as proxies, and ex-pressed resentment that such devilish policy has emboldened the Chin-Kuki people from Myanmar to wage war against Manipur while distorting history to serve their agenda.
He also criticised the role played by Mizoram in the situation affecting Manipur.
Warning that continued aggression by the Kukis would provoke the indigenous people, Joychandra said it might lead to unprecedented public demand for the restoration of Manipur's pre-merger status.
The event was attended by historian Prof Naorem Joykumar as the special guest and JNMDA director Pukhrambam Bilash as the guest of honour.
