KSO warns of filing FIR against 39 AR

Kpi, October 29 2023: While contending the arrest of Lamtinsei was staged-managed to tarnish image of the Kuki community, Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO) general headquarters has threatened to file FIR against 39 Assam Rifles.

According to a statement of KSO, Lamtinsei alias Seipu Singson (50) son of Letkhosei of Chiengkonpang, Churachandpur was picked up by a team of 39 Assam Rifles stationed at Tactical Headquarters Kadamtal Company, Jiribam on October 14 for having a cup of tea but his Bolero vehicle was seized by AR.

Before the seizure of Seipu's vehicle, womenfolk of the area scanned the vehicle wherein only his personal diary, a Christian Bible and water bottles were found.

However, in a surprising turn of event, Seipu who was called for holding discussion over a cup of tea, was handed over to the police with 10 capsules of Brown sugar, alleging him of being involved in narcotics drug trade, the KSO statement said, adding that wrongful arrest of Seipu was a staged-managed to tarnish his image in particular and that of the Kuki community in general.

The KSO statement further said that the disreputable act of the Assam Rifles implicating an innocent individual by leveling false charge of peddling drugs was condemnable and the AR unit seems to have acted to propitiate the Meetei by wrongly implicating an innocent Kuki to salvage their bad reputation.

The Company Commander of the said AR post should stop acting at the behest of the state government and the Meetei CSOs for fulfilling their unfounded claims to brand the Kuki-Zo people as narco-terrorists, KSO stated.

The KSO statement further said that commander of 39 AR and SP Jiribam should conduct impartial investigation against the commander of AR Kadamtal Company as to how drug was used against the innocent individual for establishing false accusations.

It also said that commander of the said AR post should be booked under the relevant NDPS Act, failing which the KSO- GHQ will be compelled to file a case to the National Human Rights Commission.
