155 weapons, 1,652 rounds recovered

Imphal, July 28 2025:
Joint security teams comprising Manipur Police, Assam Rifles/Army, and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) have recovered a massive cache of arms, ammunition, and explosives during coordinated search operations across several hill districts in the last few days.
According to a press release issued by the office of the DGP, the joint operations were launched following specific intelligence inputs about the presence of concealed warlike materials in remote areas.
The operations were conducted simultaneously at multiple locations in the interior and suspected areas of Churachandpur, Pherzawl, Kangpokpi, Chandel, and Tengnoupal districts.
The recoveries included 155 weapons of various types, ranging from sophisticated automatic rifles to locally made firearms.

Among the major recoveries were eight AK-series rifles, two INSAS rifles, a sniper rifle fitted with a telescope, an M4 rifle, a Self-Loading Rifle (SLR), and two .303 rifles.
The forces also recovered fourteen 12-bore guns, eight 9mm pistols, four carbines, and various other firearms including country-made pistols, bolt action rifles, and single & double barrel guns.
A total of 31 'Pompi' were also recovered.
In addition to firearms, 1,652 rounds of ammunition and explosives were seized.
These included 39 Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), 13 hand grenades, and 1,600 rounds of assorted ammunition.
The forces also recovered four binoculars, 15 communication sets, and a telescope, suggesting potential use of these items for surveillance and coordination by non-state actors.
Police termed the seizures a "major accomplishment" in their ongoing effort to restore peace and order in the state.
Police further stated that these intelligence-led operations will continue in a focused and sustained mafmer and reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring public safety and normalcy.
The statement urged the public to extend full cooperation to law enforcement and to report any suspicious activity or information related to illegal arms and explosives to the nearest police station or the Central Control Room.
Senior police officials are in constant coordination with all security stakeholders to prevent the proliferation of illegal weapons, maintain public order, dismantle armed networks and ensure the protection of civilian lives and property, it added.
