National seminar on culture, literature concludes

Imphal, March 24 2025:
A two-day National Seminar on "Contribution of Folk Narratives on North East Indian Culture, Tradition & literature" organised by All Manipur College Teachers' Association (AMCTA) in association with Oriental College concluded on Sunday.
In a statement, the inaugural ceremony was attended by Manipuri Language Advisory Board former convenor and Sahitya Akademi awardee professor H Behari Singh and AMCTA president M Lokendro Singh as chief guest and president respectively while oriental College principal Dr S Ranjit Singh and AMCTA former general secretary Dr E Iboyaima Singh were the guests of honour.
The seminar was participated by more than 200 delegates including teachers and research scholars from different colleges/institutions of Manipur and Assam.
Professor Dependu Das, an invited speaker from Department of English, Assam University, Silchar, delivered a talk on the topic "Restoring Folk Narrative, Reinventing Tradition: Adaptation of a Rain Tale in Select Fiction from India's Northeast" while Assam University Manipuri Department head professor H Nani Kumar Singha, moderated the second technical session.
CI College retired principal Dr M Mangi Singh and Dr CoHSEM former chairman L Mahendra Singh were also moderators.
The seminar discussed and interacted on the 20 seminar papers presented during four sessions.
Among others, the valedictory function of the seminar was attended by AMCTA president M Lokendro Singh, and Oriental College principal Dr S Ranjit Singh as presidium members.
Certificates were distributed to delegates during the function.
