Imphal, August 01 2023:
Reacting against the demand for removal of state forces from Moreh border town spearheaded by Kuki women at a time when the state is facing huge crisis over Chin-Kuki illegal immigrants entering the state from across the border, womenfolk of Thangmeiband Lourung Purel Leikai staged a sit-in demonstration on Tuesday.
The sit-in organised by Thangmeiband Youth Improvement Organisation (THYIO) at the club's premises was held under the banner "We Condemn Kukis Demand for Withdrawal of State Force from Moreh" and participated by meira paibis of Thangmeiband area.
The protestors held placards inscribed with slogans "State forces should be re-enforced in Moreh", "Implement NRC in Manipur", "Flush out Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists from Manipur", "There should be only one state administration in Manipur", "Save state forces in Moreh" and "Moreh is in Manipur".
Taking part in the agitation, one meira paibi of the locality said that the present crisis in Manipur is a 'war' carried out against the Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists and not between the Meiteis and the Kukis.
It is a 'war' against the illegal entry of Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists in the state from across the border, settlement of new villages inside Manipur territory, destroying the reserved forest of Manipur and carrying out illegal poppy plantation in the hills and their attempt to wipe out the indigenous people of Manipur.
She also questioned the motive and the hidden agenda of the Kukis settling in Moreh who are demanding removal of state forces from Moreh when the demography of the state and India is being affected by the illegal entry of Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists from Myanmar.
The demand of the Kukis is unreasonable and is condemned in the strongest terms, she maintained.
Further stating that Moreh is in Manipur and that the state forces are neither for the Meiteis, Nagas nor the Kukis but for the state of Manipur, she said that state forces are not refugees.
They should be immediately reinforced in Moreh town.
She also urged the Governor to do the needful of reinforcing state forces in Moreh at the earliest possible.
