NESO team visits relief camps

Imphal, August 01 2023:
An 18-member delegation of North East Students' Organisation (NESO) led by its chief advisor Samujjal Bhattacharya arrived here to assess the situation and establish communications with student bodies of different communities in a bid to restore peace in the state.
The delegation include four members from Khasi Students' Union, three each from All Assam Students' Union, All Arunachal Pradesh Students' Union, Naga Students' Federation and Tripura Students' Federation, and two from Garo Students' Union.
The delegation landed at Imphal international airport around 10.55 am Tuesday and was received by NESO members from Manipur.
Interacting with the media, NESO chairman Samuel B Jyrwa and chief advisor Samujjal Bhattacharya said that they will meet with displaced people and talk to student bodies of both communities in an attempt to restore peace in the state.
They further said that the delegation will visit different relief camps located in Imphal East and Bishnupur districts on Tuesday, where they will interacted with displaced people taking refuge in the relief camps.
They will also visit Churachandpur on Wednesday during which the team will visit two relief camps and talk with KSO as well as different CSOs.
They will submit a report to the state and central governments with suggestions to end the cycle of violence and restore peace, the two added.
In Bishnupur, the delegation visited relief camps located at Thangjing guesthouse in Moirang and Loukoipat Mini Secretariat complex in Bishnupur where they interacted with the inmates and donated relief materials as well as cash assistance.
