Imphal, August 01 2023:
The court of the chief judicial magistrate, Imphal West on Tuesday ordered investigation into allegation of fraudulent entry of names of Professor Kham Khan Suan Hausing and his family members in the electoral roll of Churachandpur assembly constituency.
The directive was issued in connection with a criminal miscellaneous (investigation) case filed against Hyderabad University political science professor Kham Khan Suan Hausing (45), his father late Zeljapak, mother Haokhennem (65), younger brothers Tualkhanlal (30) and Thangkhanlian (42) of House Number 149 of 58/15 Hill Town Churachandpur.
In the petition, the complainant stated that illegal immigrants from Myanmar have become a major threat to the state.
This came to knowledge after watching an interview given by Professor KK Suan to a national media in which he allegedly made remarks having potential to incite hatred among communities.
The petitioner further stated that upon filing an RTI application, it came to light that names of Professor KK Suan Hausing and his mother were first en rolled as voters of Churachandpur assembly constituency in 2005 .
Before that there were no entries of the two in the electoral roll of the constituency.
Moreover, his other family members and relatives were also enrolled in the electoral roll for the first time in 2005 indicating that all the names were added fraudulently in the electoral roll in 2005.The petitioner also stated that there are high possibilities of Professor KK Suan Hausing and his family members being Myanmarese citizens while stating that the fact that names of both his mother and father were not found in any of the previous electoral rolls raises serious questions.
After perusing the submission of the petitioner, the court directed officer in-charge of Imphal Police Station to investigate if the allegations are true or not.
