Thoubal, August 01 2023:
A public meeting was held at Shikhong Bazar community hall on Tuesday which demanded immediate release of Arun Khundongbam of Shikhong Bazar, who has been arrested in connection with viral video of parading naked two Kuki women on May 4, without any involvement in the case.
The meeting jointly organised by Shikhong Bazar Meira Paibi and Justice Unity Peace & Security Organisation (JU PSO), Shikhong Bazar was attended by Federation of Civil Society Organisations (FOCS), Manipur president Th Manihar as chief guest and Sh Saradchandra of Shikhong Bazar as president, while FOCS vice president BM Yaima Shah, secretary Angom Punin and Manipur Women's Federation president K Asini were present as guests of honour.
Speaking at the meeting, one Oinam Mohori opposed arrest of Arun in the said case as he was not at all involved in any manner.
He also clarified that the allegation against him that he was present at the incident site with gun is unfortunate as the gun belongs to his elder brother and he only took it from the custody of Nongpok Sekmai police station around 5 pm after the incident was over.
Mohori further demanded that the state government to release Arun as the earliest considering the circumstances.
