TNVSA appeals for peace

The Tangkhul Naga Valley Students' Association (TNVSA), a student body of 36 villages situated in the foothill areas of Kamjong, Ukhrul and Senapati districts, has appealed to both the Meiteis and the Kukis to end all violence and to the Government to bring a solution to the crisis.
In a statement, TNVSA said the violent confrontation between the two communities is giving much trouble to the entire population of the State.
While condemning the heavy militarization in the foothill areas, TNVSA said due to stringent curfew imposed, the general public in the areas are suffering major setbacks that have adversely affected their normal activities, livelihood and sustenance.
It said while strict restrictions are imposed in the foothills area, there is free vehicular movement in and around Imphal valley even during curfew hours.
The student body added that the internet ban in the State has affected business activities and work depended on the service.
In addition, it has affected thousands of students in their studies.
TNVSA further condemned the collection of money on the district Highways in the name of "Manipur integrity" .
It strongly condemned the adamant attitude of the State Government and appealed to take strong actions to bring a solution to the present crisis.
It requested both the Meiteis and the Kukis to shun all violent confrontations in the interest of restoring normalcy, peace and tranquillity in the State.
