Imphal, August 01 2023:
The Naga Welfare Association (NWA), National Games village has in a statement reacted to the resolutions taken by the recently formed Joint Coordination Committee, Langol Games Village, Punshi Leikai and Punshikhul.
Regarding the restriction on occupation of residence earlier used by Kukis, NWA made it clear that Naga tribes residing at the National Games Village Zone-I, II, III and IV and Imphal are occupying Government quarters, earlier used by Kuki-Chin people, with the permission of the competent authority and official process for allotment are underway.
NWA further said that it has nothing to do with the resolution to remove the banners/posters/Tribe Name Tag displayed in houses, shops and quarters since they are occupying the quarters with the permission from authority concerned.
The Nagas residing in the area are peace loving people and have always maintained peace even after the killing of M Lucy Maring and other unwanted incidents, said NWA while urging the Joint Coordination Committee to not take
any wrong step.
