Thoubal, July 09 2023:
Meitei Communities Joint Coordination Committee Women Wing, a joint body of 18 clubs from Waithou to Haokha has exhorted the CSOs of Manipur to face the present crisis united and mount pres-sure on chief minister N Biren to either remove the inactive central forces (CFs) from the state or step down from the post of CM.
Speaking to media persons during their daily night vigil at Thoubal Haokha Keithel on Saturday, Committee's Worn-en Wing member Pebam In-drani called the central forces useless as the failure in serving the purpose for deployment in the state to stop the conflict.
This shows that the CFs have been incapable of carrying out their duty, hence the CM must remove them from the state, she maintained.
Indrani also appealed to CSOs of the state to work together in resolving the prevailing situation.
Condemning CM N Biren for blaming people of Thoubal and Kakchmg as reason behind his resignation drama, she emphasised that defaming of meira paibi activists by CM shows that he is not fit to govern.
Indrani further claimed that the CM since the start of the conflict has been incompetent in handling the situation.
If he cannot protect the people he should hand over his post to someone else, otherwise the public will take over gov-ernance and fight the Kuki militants, she asserted.
Noting that though Imphal and Thoubal have been vio-lence free for some days, but every day there are reports of people killed in peripheral areas, Indrani questioned the rationale for the government authorities frequently claim-ing about return of peace in the state.
