Many continue to extend aid

Janata Dal (United) vice president and social activist Sanjay Ahanthem has extended financial aid to the three village volunteers who were killed in an attack perpetrated by Kuki militants at Khoijumantabi on July 2 .
The social activist personally visited the residences of the three slain volunteers and shared in the grief of the bereaved families.
Many leaders of JD (U) Kumbi AC Committee were also present at the financial aid extension visit.
Separately, in the third installment of its aid extension effort in connection with the ongoing crisis, the United Development Association (UDA), Khangabok has distributed relief materials to the relief camps at Sugnu Makha Community Hall and Kha Kanba Lup Kakching District, Sugnu.
According to a statement issued by L Dhakeshwor Singh, secretary UDA, Khangabok, the relief items include potatoes, lentils, tea leaves, sugar etc.
Assuring to provide more assistance in the future, UDA Khangabok has also appealed for lifting of blockade along the national highway.
Meanwhile locals of Salungpham have expressed gratitude towards Human Right Defender Manipur for extending relief materials to the IRB post at Salungpham Kang Yambem Mamang Leikai.
The relief materials include daily consumables such as cooking oil, lentils, potatoes, onion etc.
The locals of Salungpham have further said that setting up an IRB post in this peripheral area has brought a sense of relief and calmness to the people.
Aside from these, theManipuri Literary and Cultural Forum, Tripura and an organisation "WE THE MEITEI" based in Hojai extended financial aid and essential commodities at relief camps, to village defence volunteers and those receiving treatments in various hospitals.
WE THE MEITEI yesterday extended a sum of Rs 20,000 for the use of village defence volunteers as their third form of relief aid through ULESCO, Manipur,
said the organisation in a statement.
The aid was handed over to the finance secretary and treasurer of ULESCO, Manipur.
The organisation had also transferred a sum of Rs 5,000 in aid of 9 persons from Sugnu and Kakching Khunou taking shelter at a relief camp opened at Numaligarh in Assam, it added.
Meanwhile, a four member team of Manipuri Literary and Cultural Forum, Tripura led by Khoisnam Birola are in Imphal to aid conflict affected families and those injured during violent incidents.
As per the statement of the cultural forum issued yesterday, the team visited RIMS to inspect the health of the injured persons besides extending financial assistance through RIMS Help Unit team.
The team, assisted by AMUCO, also visited relief camps and provided monetary assistance, it said.
Notably, the forum had instituted "Manipur Tengbang Pukei" to raise fund from generous donors and individuals to come in aid of the State.
