Thoubal, July 09 2023:
Committee For Peace and Social Harmony Head Office Kakching co-convenor Pukhrambam Somarendra Singh has urged people, CSOs and meira paibis in Imphal to unite with the people in peripheral areas who are worst hit by the violence inflicted by Kuki militants in order to put out the flames of violence.
The co-convenor made the statement during an aid extension visit to the residence of Late Abujam Ronaldo from Heirok Part III Kabo Leikai who was killed in the Khangabok violence on July 4 in front of 3rd IRB Battalion.
The Committee members handed over 50 kgs of rice, essential commodities and Rs 5000 in cash to the family of Ronaldo.
He stated that the Central and State Government have so far failed to contain the war of narco-terrorism allegedly carried out by Kuki militants with the aid of external aggressors.
He added that it is shameful that tens of thousands of Central security forces deployed in the State have failed to rein in the Kuki militants.
Further, he suggested appealing to the International Human Rights Commission and United Nations Organisation now that both the Central Government have failed to resolve the conflict.
Separately, NESA Nongpok Sekmai and Apunba Meira Paibi Lup Nongpok Sekmai also extended relief materials to the family of Late Abujam Ronaldo today in the form of two bags of rice of 100 kg .
Speaking by the sideline of the relief initiative, Wangjam Tomba, president NESA stated that there is evidence of both the State and Central Government not taking the conflict seriously.
If the authorities wanted, the violence could have been contained in a single night, he added.
Taking the future of Ronaldo's six-month old daughter into consideration, he earnestly appealed to the State Government to provide a Government job to one of the family members of Ronaldo.
