Governor, others extend Christmas greetings

Imphal, December 24 2024:
Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya, chief minister N Biren, education minister Th Basanta Kumar Singh, MA HUD minister Y Khemchand Singh, health minister Dr Sapam Ranjan Singh and others have extended their best wishes and heartiest greetings to the people of Manipur, particularly the Christian brethren, on the joyous and auspicious occasion of Christmas.
In his message, Governor Lakshman Prasad stated that the birth of Jesus Christ is celebrated as Christmas on the December 25 every year and it is the most important festival in the life of a Christian anywhere in the world.
"He was the apostle of peace and preached forgiveness, compassion and love" .
"I congratulate the Christian missionaries for the massive expansion of educational institutions, hospitals and humanitarian services," he said.
Meanwhile, CM Biren stated, "As we celebrate with family and friends, let us also remember to share our blessings with those in need, spreading joy and kindness to all.
May this festive season bring happiness, prosperity, and good health to everyone" .
The CM also stressed the need for working together to build a society rooted in mutual respect, understanding, and progress.
Koren (Koireng) Youth Organisation (KYO-M) in its Christmas greeting stated that as a minority community, the last 19 months, has lamentably been a disaster due to the ongoing conflict.
KYO-M appealed to all the communities to commit and work collectively ip promoting peace, harmony and unity in the state.
Anal Lenruwl Tangpi (ALT), All Manipur Christian Organisation (AMCO) and Zeme Council North East India also extended warm Christmas and New Year greetings to all.
In a release, AMCO president reverend L Simon Raomai 'earnestly' appealed to all the communities of Manipur not to create any problems or violence during this holy season but to pray for a peaceful Christmas and New Year celebrations.
On the other hand, Archbishop of Imphal Dr Linus Neli in his message wished for god's love and peace to all men and women of goodwill in Manipur, who have suffered violence and unrest, particularly in the present times.
