Bishnupur, August 18 2025:
Internally displaced persons (IDPs) of Napat, the last village in the southern part of Kumbi assembly constituency, on Monday urged MLA S Premchandra for his immediate intervention to facilitate their safe return to home.
The IDPs, who have been staying in relief camps across the state for more than two years, met the Kumbi MLA at his Salankonjil residence and conveyed their deep frustration over the prolonged delay in their resettlement.
More than 120 families from Napat attended the gathering, which was also joined by Borayangbi GP administrative committee chairman Th Romesh, Saiton GP administrative committee chairman M Ibomcha, BJP Kumbi Mandal president S Angousana and secretary W Thoiba.
The displaced villagers shared their grievances and appealed for arrangements to be made so they could rebuild their homes and lives.
Addressing them, Premchandra said that the Central Government's efforts to resolve the conflict could be comprehended from gradual return of peace in the state.
He recalled that earlier during the people's government, materials for reconstructing the Sugnu-Napat bridge had already been purchased and plans made to facilitate their return, acknowledging the pain and hardship of the displaced families.
The MLA assured that he would hold discussions with top leaders on the bridge reconstruction and provide a clear report to the public within a week.
He said that his vision is to see the restoration of peace, unity and the disciplined way of life that once defined Napat.
Premchandra cautioned against political rivalries at such a difficult time, stating that conflicts for political gain would only push Kumbi Kendra and Napat to regression.
He urged the people to focus on rebuilding rather than political divisions.
"Let's talk about votes when the time for election comes.
You can show your love for me at that time.
I love every single person.
I don't love you just for the sake of votes.
In my heart, every single person is equal," he said, adding that his love for the people was rooted in his duty as their representative.
