Sharda holds Cong responsible for unrest situation

If the ground rules of Suspension of Operation (So0) was respected during Congress government's time then the party should explain why the illegal immigrants are waging a war against Manipur at present, demanded BJP Manipur Pradesh president A Sharda.
Addressing a press meet at BJP's Thambal Shanglen at Ni-tyaipat Chuthek here on Satur-day, Sharda asked the people to bear witness to Congress' claim of So0 ground rules being up-held and adhered to during its (Congress) time.
If the ground rules were truly respected at the time, then Congress owes an explanation as to why illegal immigrants are waging a war against Manipur.
Congress par-ty's hypocrisy of questioning the BJP governments at the centre and in the state on non-rec-tification of So0, which was signed during Congress rule, only shows its wrongdoing.
It is unbecoming of political parties to try to take advantage and attempt to portray the ruling government in bad light when all it is trying to do is to pro-tect the people from the messes created by the then Congress government.
Regarding the MLAs who are demanding separate admin-istration, she informed that talks have been held with the national leaders with regard to the decision taken by the MLAs and the leaders will initiating due process.
Stating that the government of Manipur has not given any form of approval with regard to the ST demand, Sharda ex-pressed regret over attempts being made by political parties to demonise the BJP government and further divert the attention from the impact on Manipur due to illegal immigrants and poppy cultivation.
The people are already aware of Congress' actions to disintegrate Manipur.
The current violence concerns the territorial integrity of Ma-nipur, she said, while alleging that Congress' appeasement policy and divide and rule policy have led to the current situation in the state.
The state BJP president fur-ther accused Congress of being silent when the government called for a meeting of all con-cerned in the interest of the peo-ple.
The BJP government does not discriminate between corn-munities but treats everyone fairly, unlike the then Congress government which did not think about the youth or protection of Manipur's territorial boundary.
Thus, the BJP government faced many difficulties like the present situation while standing up for the people of the state including steps to stop the influx of illegal immigrants, deforestation and poppy cultivation, she reasoned.
In addition, the state govern-ment has never made any per-sonal attack to any community but had taken up measures to curb drug trade regardless of the community the arrested person(s) belonged to.
As such, it is extremely deplorable that the Congress has been working overtime to mislead the people on the steps taken up by the state government to protect the state's integrity and its people and prevent all sort of problems, she remarked.
Sharda further rubbished Congress party's accusations against the state BJP of partic-ipating in election campaign at Guwahati, when, in reality, the party (BJP) had attended the zone-wise meeting to submit a report on Manipur's situation to national leader BL Santhosh, stating it is Congress' old habit of spreading misinformation.
She then said that political par-ties should refrain from dis-cussing unpractical agendas, especially amid the prevailing situation, while urging Congress leaders 0 lbobi and Gaikhangam to stop their reckless attempts of whitewashing their pasts.
The press meet was also at-tended by office bearers of BJP Manipur Pradesh.
