Committee calls 24-hr public curfew from Aug 4 midnight

Coordinating Committee of 24 Assembly Constituencies & MACKMAL, Union of Social Upliftment and CFC (Thongju) have announced imposition of public curfew from August 4 midnight if the state government fails to issue notification for convening emergency assembly session by Thursday.
In a release, the committee recalled that a joint meeting for clubs and organisations of districts and assembly constituencies was held at Seva Club, Thongju on July 27 wherein the gathering resolved to demand the state government to convene emergency assembly session within August 2, adopt resolution to protect Manipur's integrity, oppose separate administration demand and forward the resolution for discussion in the ongoing parliament session.
As such, if the government does not to issue notification for conducting the emergency assembly session within Thursday, then 24-hour public curfew will be imposed from midnight of August 4.While informing that those in essential services and religious activities (invitation must) will be exempted from the purview of the curfew, the Committee further announced that in case there is no positive response after the curfew ends, then sit-in protest will be staged in front of the MLAs' residences till the notification is issued.
