Imphal, August 02 2023:
Objecting to the plan to hold a mass burial programme at Torbung Bangla tomorrow, the Khwairamband Ima Keithel Joint Co-ordinating Committee for Peace has said that Kuki groups with vested interest chose the particular site to ignite another round of bloodshed and violence.
Speaking to media persons at Khwairamband Keithel today, co-convenor Y Ibeyaima said that not an inch of Manipur land should be compromised to build a cemetery for foreigners who came to balkanise Manipur.
It is low level politics of Kuki groups with vested interest, Ibeyaima further said referring to the proposed mass burial programme.

Asking why the Kuki leaders are playing politics on dead people and making an issue even out of burial if their demand is separate administration, she asked the point of attacking Meiteis, torching houses and blocking highways while placing their demand to the Centre.
Has the conflict ended and which site will these Kuki groups with vested interest choose again to make another cemetery if there is more bloodshed, Ibeyaima questioned.
Ibeyaima further claimed that the conflict in Manipur is orchestrated by a group of Kuki people to expand their drug and poppy business by misguiding their own people in the name of Kukiland.
The Kuki people need to see the design and ambition of narco-terrorists from a broader perspective, she said and asked the State Government and Kuki people, especially women, to take full responsibility of all eventualities if they try to perform the burial with brute force.
The Government shouldn't allow the burial programme to take place under any circumstances, she demanded.
If the Government doesn't understand the sentiments of the mothers and allow the burial programme then they (the Government) will surely face the wrath of the people, she cautioned.
It would be better for all the Government leaders to leave Manipur if they couldn't forbid the mass burial programme, Ibeyaima asserted.
