Hundreds of women staged a torch rally from Keishampat to Malom this evening against the move to build a graveyard for slain Kukis at Torbung Bangla in Bishnupur.
A large number of womenfolk from Malom to Keishampat stretch assembled at Keishampat at around 8 pm and took out a protest march upto Malom by raising slogans "Wipe out narco-terrorists", "No separate administration" and "Don't convert Torbung Bangla into a graveyard of Kuki militants" among others.
Speaking to media persons, a group of protesters said that they will launch a series of mass agitations if the Centre and State Government fail to stop the mass burial programme at Torbung Bangla tomorrow.
The Government at the Centre and the State should take the matter very seriously as Kuki militants and their associates chose Torbung Bangla which is inhabited by Meiteis to hold the mass burial programme deliberately, they said and warned that Manipur will witness a violence of unprecedented level if the Centre and Manipur Government fail to act.
Security measures were taken up during the rally.
