Imphal, August 02 2023:
The Federation of Civil Society Organisations (FOCS) has warned that the situation in Manipur will get uglier and nastier if any of the foreigners who got killed amid the ongoing conflict is buried in the State.
Speaking to media persons at Wangkhei Ningthem Pukhri Mapal today, FOCS president Th Manihar said that the Government should intervene immediately to prevent the proposed mass burial programme of 'Kuki terrorists' from taking place at Torbung Bangla situated at the adjoining areas of Bishnupur and Churachandpur.
These 'Kuki terrorists' came to Manipur to tear apart the State, he claimed.
The decision to bury the slain Kuki foreigners might have been taken after a collusion as Churachandpur police and paramilitary forces deployed at the area did nothing when a group of womenfolk made arrangement to convert the Sericulture complex at Torbung Bangla to a cemetery on July 31, he claimed.
Will the Government allow if such a controversial measure is taken up in the valley, Manihar asked.
The Indian Government, Manipur Government, Churachandpur SP and DC should take responsibility for all eventuality if any cemetery of 'Kuki terrorists' is established in the State, the FOCS president cautioned.
It is becoming more evident that the issue besieging the State is external aggression and not internal conflict as envisaged by many, he opined and asked the Government to take up strong actions against the 'Kuki terrorists' .
He also urged the Union Government to send the slain 'Kuki terrorists' to their native country.
Meanwhile, Manihar claimed that the inability of the State Government to send the reinforcement team to Moreh due to objections by Kuki women in Tengnoupal is a clear example of lawlessness in hill districts.
The Union Government might have a hidden agenda to hand over Moreh to outsiders as they didn't intervene to clear the passageway even though Moreh is in a volatile situation after the torching of 30 houses recently, he expressed suspicion.
