RSS extends helping hand to affected folks

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Manipur Pranta has been carrying out seva activities in different parts of the State, which have been marred by the ongoing attack on Meiteis by Kuki militants for nearly three months.
In a statement, RSS Manipur Pranta said that they in association with Seva Samiti Manipur have been running a model relief camp since June 17 at Rajarshi Bhagyachandra Skill Development Centre (RBSDC), Haraorou, Imphal East for the people whose houses were burnt down by armed Kuki militants.
Over 110 people including children from Leitanpokpi, Ikou, Sadu Lampak, Sadu Yengkhuman of Imphal East and other affected areas have been taking shelter at the relief centre till today, it added.

The Manipur unit of RSS further said that they and Seva Samiti have been conducting skill development and self-employment activities for the displaced folks in association with premier institutes like the Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development, Huma- nism Foundation, Romi Bag Industry and Central Agricultural University, Imphal.
The inmates of the model relief camp are being given training on candle making, shoe making, mushroom cultivation, basket and agarbatti making etc, it added.
Saying that senior RSS functionaries are constantly monitoring the situation in Manipur and supervising various relief and rehabilitation activities, it added that a team of RSS Manipur Pranta visited Khoiju-mantabi and other sensitive areas under Bishnupur on July 6 and interacted with the family members of Ningombam Ibomcha, Haobam Ibocha and Naorem Rajkumar who were killed by Kuki militants on July 2 and handed them over Rs 10,000 each and essential commodities to the bereaved families.
RSS Manipur Pranta and Seva Bharati Manipur have also distributed around 400 bags of rice, 500 kg of dal, 500 litre of edible oil, 500 kg of salt, essential commodities like mosquito nets, dresses, vegetables and study materials for displaced students.
It also said that Shiksha Vikash Samiti, Manipur has also launched a free education scheme for the children of affected families and so far, the Samiti has adopted 60 students and enrolled them at Bal Bidya Mandir, Palace Compound.
