14th National Voters' Day celebrated In state

Imphal, January 25 2024:
With an aim to promote and encourage youth to participate in voter registration, especially among new or first-time voters, the 14th National Voters' Day was observed under the theme 'Nothing Like Voting, I Vote for Sure' at the Lamphelpat office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) on Thursday.
Speaking as chief guest of the function organised by office of CEO, Manipur, chief secretary Dr Vineet Joshi encouraged the new voters to cast their vote in a free, fair and peaceful manner.
He said that coming out and participating in the elections is the first step of the young voters to lead the state to the path of truth.
The chief secretary further said that India is one of the oldest countries to follow democracy consequently contributing to country holding firmly on democratic values and facilitating coexistence of multiple communities.
Noting that female voters have been taking a major role in the election process in the country for decades, Dr Vineet Joshi appealed to the women electors to encourage the public to come out for exercising their franchise rights.
While lauding the CEO, officials and held staff for coming out with the final electoral roll in time, he wished that the election be held in the most free and fair manner.
Delivering the presidential speech, CEO Pradeep Kumar Jha said that the function has been organised with the primary objective of conveying the message to the public to exercise their voting rights and elect worthy candidates.
He appreciated the district election officers, returning officers, BLOs and other officials of CEO office for successful Electoral Summary Revision 2023-24.He also said that a survey was conducted in partnership with Manipur Technical University regarding knowledge, aptitude and practices of election.
CEO Pradeep also appealed to the fresh voters to do away with the notion of skipping the democratic process, stating that participation of all the voters will help in ensuring in free and fair conduct of election.
Speaking at the function, additional chief secretary MH Khan pointed out that the Constitution of India guarantees the citizens the right to elect our leader.
As it is obvious that the future will be uncertain if electors do not choose the right representatives the voters should exercise their rights with wisdom.
The message of chief election commissioner of India Rajiv Kumar delivered on the occasion of 14th National Voters' Day was screened during the function, which also witnessed presentation of EPIC Cards and badges to the newly enrolled voters.
Appreciation certificates and Best Electoral Practices Awards 2024 were conferred to District Election Officers, Electoral Registration Officers and Returning Officers for their exemplary performances.
National Voters' Day is being celebrated since 2011 across the country to mark the establishment of the Election Commission of India.
