Imphal, July 18 2024: While expressing deep hurt over the death of Merangir Mechek Chiru and conveying solidarity to the bereaved family, KCP (PWG) MC Unification PRO Chingkheinganba pledged to the Chiru community that they would do everything to avert similar incident in future.

Further urging the Chiru community to keep away from espionage activities like the ones committed by Merangir, Chingkheinganba clarified that in-spite of confession about wrongdoings during questioning under its custody, KCP MC handed him over to the public on humanitarian ground.

Merangi had admitted to have worked as an informer and involved in the killing of Manoranjan alias Maikeingakpa at Kangchup Chingkhong around 1.05 pm on January 18, claimed the PRO, further stating that Merangir disclosed to have received Rs 20,000 as paying for passing information to the Kukis with regard to the death of Manoranjan.

Further stating that he was set free for the sake of the Chiru community despite deserving capital punishment for his nefarious activities, the outfit revealed of Merangir agreeing to pay penalty of Rs 5.5 lakh by July 25 for his offence.

Reiterating that its deep remorse over Merangir's untimely demise, the outfit appealed to Chiru community to see that such incident does not recur in the future.
