Bishnupur, July 09 2025:
Deputy commissioner Pooja Elangbam on Wednesday chaired a meeting of the District Level Security Coordination Committee at the Mini Secretariat Complex conference hall, here.
The meeting focused on ensuring peaceful cultivation during the ongoing kharif season and expediting resettlement of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).
Noting significance of agriculture in the district's economy, DC Pooja stressed that Bishnupur, being a primarily agrarian district, must ensure uninterrupted and peaceful farming activities.
Pointing out that flying squads comprising key stakeholders have already been formed for disturbance-free farming in fringe areas, she urged officials present to respond swiftly and in coordination in the event of any untoward incidents.
Pooja also emphasised the importance for regular visits to fringe areas to engage with farmers, address their grievances at the ground level, and inform the district administration for intervention as and when necessary.
Regarding the government s plan for resettlement of the IDPs, the DC informed that the resettlement process will be carried in three phases, beginning with areas where law and order have significantly improved.
She called on the security personnel to identify locations feasible for resettlement of the IDPs and intimate areas in need for enhanced security arrangements.
The DC also interacted with officials, including the additional SP, who provided input on potential resettlement zones.
Expressing appreciation for the collective efforts in maintaining law and order, the DC expressed hope that more displaced persons would be rehabilitated in the coming months, helping restore peace and normalcy in the district.
The meeting was also attended by Bishnupur ADM T Opendro, members of the District Level Security Coordination Committee, and other officials concerned.
