The Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West, has granted bail to Ningombam Jagdish, a Chemistry teacher at Paradise Academy English School, who was arrested in connection with the Physics question paper leak during the Council of Higher Secondary Examination 2025.Jagdish (33), s/o N Bidyashwar Singh of Thoubal Okram was arrested by a team of Cyber Crime police on March 5 .
The defence counsel filed the bail application.
The defence counsel argued that the accused is innocent and his administrative role at the school does not imply guilt.
The accused is in judicial custody for actions done by other school staff, despite no incriminating evidence being found against him, the defence counsel said and added that the accused is innocent and has been caring for his elderly father with eye problems.
On the other hand.
APP of the State submitted that Jagdish confessed to leaking the question paper during the investigation.
The accused received a photo of the Physics question paper via WhatsApp from someone named Prabin, the APP continued.
The Court, after hearing the defence counsel, APP and on perusal of the case record, released the accused on bail on furnishing a bond of Rs one lakh with bail bond (Govt Employee) of the like amount.
The Court, however, directed the accused to not threaten, contact or induce any of the prosecution witnesses and make himself available for interrogation.
